Nek'zali the Soulcoiler

Single target with add controlBloodlust Phase 2
Difficulty

Amani skeletons walk from the sarcophagi toward the Soulcoil Well in the middle. Every one that arrives gives the boss energy, and at 100 energy she enrages. Kill adds before they reach the well, then race her down in Phase 2.

Boss tanked at the entrance side. Adds walk from the sarcophagi into the well.

Your job (melee)

  • Stand behind the boss. Never stand in the line between her and the tank when Possession Barrage fires.
  • Swap to every Amani as it spawns. Break the Gravebound Advance shield, which only magic damage can break, then kill it before it reaches the well.
  • If you get Essence Rend, walk to the side of the room for the dispel. A Latent Cultist puddle spawns where it ends, so keep it out of walking paths.
  • Dodge the falling circles during Soulcoil Ignition.
  • heroic Don't let anyone die in the well. Dying there applies Soulcoiled, which carries into Phase 2.
  • heroic Every Soulcoil Rite stacks Ritual Burn (+15% damage from the next Rite, 60 sec). Adds leaking means stacks, and stacks mean wipes.

Abilities

  • Restless Amaniaddpriority
Spawn from sarcophagi and walk to the well. A magic-only absorb (25% of their health) makes them unkillable until it breaks. Each one that arrives triggers a Soulcoil Rite and gives the boss 5 energy.
  • Raid-wide Plague damage plus a stacking DoT when an Amani dies. Healers plan for it.
  • Vessel of Awakeningheroic onlyadd
Amani corpses stay on the floor. During the intermission they get repossessed and come back stronger.
  • Four spirits fly at the tank and explode on the first player hit. Damage falls off with distance, so the tank moves 30+ yards out and nobody stands in the line.
  • Stacking DoT that lowers healing taken by 5% per stack. Tanks swap around 30–40% reduction.
  • Essence Renddispelmove
Pulls a few players for 5 seconds, knocks them away, then leaves a 15-second magic DoT. A Latent Cultist spawns where it ends.
  • Explodes on spawn (6 yards), then leaves a pool that slows by 40%. Put it at the edges.
  • The boss fires 4 Soulcoil Rites in a row while Anguished Echo circles fall. Dodge the circles. This is the big healing check.
  • Raid-wide Shadow damage plus a stacking DoT, and +5 boss energy each time.
  • Ritual Burnheroic onlyheal
Each Rite increases the damage of the next Rite by 15% for 60 seconds. Go into Soulcoil Ignition with zero stacks.
  • At 100 energy: +500% damage, +150% attack and movement speed, immune to taunt. Wipe.

  4. 0:08Echo dies, beam ends
Two Echoes of Jawae on opposite sides. Melee soak Hungering Pyre. Step out of the Soul Transfer beam.

Your job (melee)

  • Kill the Echo of Jawae on your side. Both have to die to end the intermission.
  • Melee group-soak Hungering Pyre. The damage splits among everyone within 10 yards, so stack in.
  • Step out of the Soul Transfer beam before the 15-second channel ends.
  • heroic Kill the empowered Amani that rise from Phase 1 corpses before they reach the well.

Abilities

  • Echo of Jawaepriorityadd
Tethered to the well. Each one gives the boss immunity until it dies.
  • A 15-second channel on one side of the room. It spawns an Echo, then detonates in a large blast.
  • A large soak circle that splits damage among everyone within 10 yards and removes corpses under it.
  • Chases a player who isn't soaking and applies a Fire DoT.
  • Cremationheroic onlymove
Slithering Flame combusts when it expires and burns corpses and Amani within 4 yards. Lead it over corpses.

  1. 0:00Invoke: Cultist puddles circle the well
  2. 0:04Keep killing Amani
  3. 0:06Burn: every second counts
Same layout as Phase 1. Cultist puddles now circle the well, and raid damage ticks until she dies.

Your job (melee)

  • Bloodlust and every cooldown go here. Uncoiling ticks raid damage every second, so this is a race.
  • Keep killing Amani. Energy still ends the fight at 100.
  • Watch the Latent Cultist puddles. Invoke makes them circle the well.

Abilities

  • Shadow damage to the raid every second until she dies.
  • Invokedodge
Triggers a Soulcoil Rite and makes every Latent Cultist puddle move around the well.
  • Phase 1 abilities
Essence Rend, Soulcoil Rite, Possession Barrage, Hollowing Strikes and the Amani all continue.

Retribution Paladin tips

  • Most of your damage is Holy, so you're one of the best Amani shield-breakers in the raid. Tunnel adds as they spawn.
  • Save Avenging Wrath (or Crusade) for Phase 2 with Bloodlust.
  • Don't bubble out of Hungering Pyre. It needs bodies, and Divine Shield doesn't share the damage.

Death Knight (Frost / Unholy) tips

  • Frost and Unholy both deal a lot of magic damage (Frost and Shadow), so you're a strong Amani shield-breaker.
  • Anti-Magic Shell during Soulcoil Ignition absorbs a big chunk of the Shadow damage.
  • Anti-Magic Zone is a good call for the final Soulcoil Ignition or the Phase 2 burn.
Other roles (short)

Tanks

  • Take the tank 30+ yards out for Possession Barrage. Swap at 30–40% Hollowing Strikes reduction.

Healers

  • Dispel Essence Rend at the edges. Save cooldowns for Soulcoil Ignition and Phase 2.
